Special: Somen Noodle Salad
$0
While somen noodles originated in Japan, the inspiration for this special comes from a dish that has become a beloved part of Hawaiʻi’s local food culture. Japanese immigrants brought somen to the islands in the late 1800s and early 1900s, where it evolved alongside the culinary traditions of Chinese, Filipino, Korean, Portuguese, Okinawan, and Native Hawaiian communities. Today, chilled somen salad is a staple of potlucks, beach days, graduation parties, and backyard gatherings across Hawaiʻi, with every family adding their own favorite ingredients.
Hawaiian-style noodle salad with julienne carrot, cucumber sunomono, watermelon radish, char sui tofu, marinated egg, narutomaki, finished with chilled dashi broth and furikake
